Got fear? Put this in your back pocket. (VIDEO)
It’s real. And I’ve got some.
I have gained so much momentum this past year in creating the life and business I want, and for me, 2013 is all about COMMITMENT. I am making a stronger and firmer commitment to my work and my service to others.
A major part of this commitment is the launch of my group coaching event, Happy Mama LIVE!
I’m super psyched to finally be doing Happy Mama LIVE! I have been visualizing this event for years, and I’m stepping forward and making it real.
(May 2015 Update: The events have just gotten bigger and better – in January we did the first ever Connect Relate Activate LIVE, and it was amazing – check out the photos here!)
And while I am confident in myself and in the event, I can’t help but also feel the FEAR.
Confident, yet scared?
Yeah, you heard me.
FEAR.
In just 14 days, I’m stepping up in front of a group of smart, accomplished, insightful women who have paid money to participate in a group workshop experience led by ME.
I’m excited as all hell, but I can feel the tension in my chest. And there’s no mistaking it. It’s fear in its purest form.
What if no one shows up? What if I get diarrhea that day? What if I look fat? What if I don’t have the perfect answer to a question asked? What if I sound like I’m lecturing? Barf.
The worst part about fear-based thoughts is that they’re totally unproductive. They certainly don’t motivate me to create; rather, they try to get in the way of me doing my work.
After 3 weeks of entertaining houseguests and having the little man at home for Winter Break, this week marks the week I’m back in the game. And as this week approached, it started to feel like I was heading straight for a mountain. A steep one.
Well wouldn’t you know the Universe delivered me exactly what I needed the moment I needed it to help me get out of my own way?!?
I got an unexpected visit from my old dear friend, Shira Newmark. Shira is a lightworker in the truest sense. She is an old soul who has inspired thousands of adults and children through her teaching in and out of the classroom, and I am so privileged to call her my friend.
And she and I always seem to have a way of showing up in each others’ lives at the most tender and profound of times.
So it made perfect sense that she showed up on Friday.
When I shared some of my fear-based self-talk with Shira, I was so inspired by what she had to say that I asked her if she wouldn’t mind letting me record her speaking.
Why should her brilliance have an audience of one when it can inspire so many others?
So, this week, I’d like to share with you my dear friend, Shira Newmark. Please excuse the crappy video quality; I took it on my iPhone at dusk – like I said, it wasn’t planned.
In the video, Shira suggests making a list 150 items long. I’m getting started on mine. I hope you’ll do it too. And in the Comments below, share with the rest of us just a few of the things on your list, will ya?
I’ll start. 1. I’m empathic… 2. The color of my hair… 3. My ability to attract such amazing people as friends…
Get the idea?
